BOTTOMLESS SHRIMP
ACCORDING TO THE OCEAN INSTITUTE….
Much of the world’s shrimp fishing industry is extremely wasteful, with an average of more than five pounds of bycatch killed and discarded “less valuable” sea creatures – for every pound of shrimp brought to port.
ALSO, A PHOTOGRAPHER WHO WORKED ON ROGER PAYNE´S ODYSSEY PROJECT TOLD ME THAT THE RATIO WAS ABOUT 5 ORGANISMS WHICH BECAME DISCARDED BYCATCH (TOSSED INTO THE SEA DEAD) FOR EVERY SHRIMP THAT WAS BROUGHT TO LAND AND DISTRIBUTED. THIS MEANS THAT EVERYTIME YOU EAT A SHRIMP, YOU´RE KILLING FIVE OTHER FISH. SO WHO WANTS TO GO TO RED LOBSTER?
